Cabbage Au Gratin

  • 6 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 of a 6-ounce can of tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 cup grated Co-op Gold Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter



  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Pill a large pot half full with slightly salted water and bring to a boil.  Add cabbage to the pot and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Drain cabbage and return to pot.
  • In separate saucepan, combine tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, and sugar.  Bring to a boil, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour tomato mixture over cabbage.  Toss to coat.  Pour into a casserole dish. Top with Co-op Gold Cheddar Cheese and bread crumbs.  Dot with butter.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.  Serve hot.
